3 of the Best Places to Golf Around Negril, Jamaica

1. Negril Hills Golf Club

Negril Hills Golf Club is an 18-hole, 120-acre, par-72 course. Located high above the white beaches of Negril in the lush green hills, this stunning club is just 15 minutes away from Skylark Negril Beach Resort. The tropical greenery, elevated tees and greens, gently undulating fairways, and picturesque water hazards make this a great local track.

The wind, water, and 6,333 yards of rolling hills make for a challenging yet satisfying round. There are a couple of exceptionally tough greens (after playing here a few times, we think you have to be a magician to make the ball stick on the 9th), but as long as you’re patient, you’ll be able to keep your irie vibe! Practice your swing as you overlook the gorgeous vistas of Negril.

Carts and a caddy are a must at this hilly track. Call (876) 957-4638 to arrange a tee time.

2. The Tryall Club

The Tryall Club is about 45 minutes away from Skylark. It’s the best quality golf in the area! The Tryall Club was once home to the PGA Tour’s Johnnie Walker World Championship and the LPGA Tour’s Jamaica Classic. Texan architect Ralph Plummer built the course in 1960, and it hosts golfers from around the world.

Located on a 2,200-acre luxury resort complex, this picturesque course has great sea views, rolling fairways, devilish greens, and a unique layout. It is considered one of the finest golf courses in the Caribbean. Set on the site of a 19th-century sugar plantation, one of the tees is even located beside an original water wheel. It’s one of the most photographed sites in Jamaica!

Call the golf pro shop at 956-5681 or 956-5660 ext 4202 or book your tee time online.

3. White Witch Golf Course

There’s something magical about green grass and turquoise water meeting on the horizon, and you can see this beautiful sight from 16 of the 18 holes at the White Witch Golf Course. Surrounded by lush greenery and rolling countryside, the breathtaking course is situated on the historic, 4,000-acre Rose Hall Estate. Located on the other side of Montego Bay, about two hours from Skylark, this is a good idea for the day you are flying out.

This 18-hole championship golf course was designed by Robert von Hagge and Rick Baril and was named for the plantation’s beautiful but wicked 19th-century plantation mistress, Annee Palmer, made infamous in the Johnny Cash song and murderer of at least three husbands before being killed herself. Legend has it that Annee’s ghost still haunts the estate, which is always a good excuse for getting the yips while putting! The White Witch is also considered to be one of the finest golf courses in the Caribbean, characterized by mountainous terrain, cool trade winds, colorful foliage, and spectacular ocean views.
